Link Building To Get Your Site Seen

If you have a new site then chances are you have little to no traffic. The hardest thing to do for a new site is to get indexed in Google where you can start to rank. The easiest way to get indexed by Google is to link to several sites who are already indexed in Google. While I do not guarantee any result I will help sites that are relevant to the t-shirt biz that need to incoming links to build traffic. The more visitors that come to this site the more visitors that will see your link and possibly come to your site. This will be just one of many potential traffic sources you can link to to build traffic for your website or business. To be linked to this simply create a link on your website to this site and leave your site’s URL in the comment box below and I will visit your site to check for the link and then create a link on this site that will be on a page with all of the links I receive. Please leave a 1-2 line description of your site with the link URL. I hope this networking will help you to further your T-Shirt Biz.

Hosting Your Own T-Shirt Biz Website

If you are in the advanced stages of your t-shirt business and you have shirts pressed and professional looking pictures of your t-shirts then it may be time to host your own online store or website. I suggest Go Daddy for hosting and building your website. Click the Go Daddy image to take you to Go Daddy to purchase a hosting plan. With the purchase of a hosting plan you will be able to purchase your domain name (www.yoursitename.com) for $1.99 or as many as you want at $1.99 during the time of purchase.

Go Daddy $7.49 .com domains

I recommend the deluxe hosting package because it allows you more flexibility than the economy package and you get 25 MySQL databases which allow you to host up to 25 websites under that one hosting plan. If you don’t know what a MySQL database is then I suggest you learn about it before you decide to look into your own website.

I will post later on setting up your website with Go Daddy and how simple and easy it can be.

Silk Screen Printing Supplies

If you are looking for a place to go to get all of the silk screen printing supplies  you need to start you t-shirt business then i have a couple of places for you.  The first one is Silk Screening Supplies.  The have a one color press kit for about $250 which has a one color press and all the emulsion, screen wash, and screen cleaning supplies.  If you have a larger budget then I would suggest purchasing the 4 color press and the supplies are separate.  The 4 color press will allow you to do more advanced designs and save time on multi-color jobs.

They also offer heat transfers, heat transfer presses, transparency papers, silk screens and mesh as well.  The sell Epson wide format printers which are the best on the market and allow you to print out designs on paper 11×17 and in size.  For those on a budget I recommend checking Ebay or Craigslist for used Epson wide format printers.  Look for the Epson Stylus line of printers.  A good fairly low cost on is the 1400.  I recommend #1400 or #2200.  These printers are workhorses meaning they will last a long time and print thousands of prints.

The other site I recommend is Lawson Screen Printing Supplies.  They sell many of the same products but if you are ready for a major t-shirt business and have the space then they have very large presses and conveyor curing units.  Their equipment is for large t-shirt manufacturers and they have great customer service that answer the phone.  Anyone you talk to there will be knowledgeable not some secretary that just fields the calls.

I hope this these resources help.  Silk Screening Supplies sells some of their items on Ebay so you may want to check out supplies on Ebay as well.  If you find anything here that helps then please leave a comment.

BULK T-SHIRT DISTRIBUTORS

If you are looking for a place to buy t-shirts in bulk online for a great price then I have a place for you.  The company is called Broder Brothers and their website is www.broderbros.com.  This company is great for buying a host of blank apparel.  They sell all of the major brands such as Gilda, Jerzees, Hanes, Champion, Adidas and many other name brands.

Their prices are competitive with all of the other distributors.  Buying items in bulk will save you even more money per item.  You can save 20-50% per item when you purchase at in bulk or case price.  Once you have been with the company for about a year they will allow you to buy items at case price even when you are only buying a few pieces at a time.  All you will need to do is go to their website and register for an account which is free and you can immediately start to ordering from them.

Shipping is very quick and is guaranteed.  If you order is in stock and is placed by 5pm central time the order will ship the same day.  They are not like a lot of the other distributors that take a day or two before they process your order.  This comes in handy in those instances where you have a customer that needs a rush order and you don’t want to lose their business to a competitor because you have to tell them it will not be possible due to time restraints. They are also great at giving a credit with little issues for items that were never used and you have up to 30 days to return the items.

So check out Broder Brothers by going online and viewing their catalog of 100’s of apparel items.  Order some individual tees in different styles, fits, fabrics, and colors so that you can have samples for your customer and you can get a feel for what looks and feels good about the t-shirts.

The T-shirt Biz Blog

Thanks you for stopping by the T-shirt Biz Blog. I started this blog to share my knowledge and gain knowledge about the t-shirt industry.  This blog is mostly centered around the silk screened t-shirt part of the biz but will focus on other aspects of the t-shirt industry.

I have been a fan of t-shirts all of my life.  Where I grew up no one had a lot of money and the plain white t-shirts were the most affordable shirt that you could buy.  For that reason t-shirt went from being a sort of undergarment to rapidly becoming a for of fashion.  The clean white tee became more of a status symbol.  For many it represented a kind of higher class amongst the poor.

So my ties to tees as fashion have been with me for most of my life.  I started later being interested in silk screened t-shirts as I became a teen and those were considered premium t-shirts that were usually only available in department stores.  I was always curious about how the image was transferred onto the t-shirt.  I had no clue what the process was or the equipment that was needed to produce a screen printed shirt.  At this point in my life no one knew about the internet and everything was researched thru the phone book.

In my 20’s I started to research what was needed to get into the business and I learned all that i could about the processes without ever jumping into the business.  At the time the cost of the basics to get started was more than I was able to manage.  A few years later a close family member had purchased a 4 color press and all of the supplies for about $600.  One day I visited him he showed me a t-shirt design he had printed on a shirt and I was in amazement that he was in possession of the exact equipment that I have not been about to get my hands on for years.   Yo me this was fate.   So over the next couple of days he showed me how it all worked and explained the process to me to the best of his ability.  He had bought the silk screening equipment as a hobby and had no desire to sell his works.

For the next few weeks I spent the bulk of my free time learning all I could from various websites about screen printing and I scrapped together the money to buy a 1-color press and inks and cleaning supplies for about $300 from the website that my relative said he had bought his equipment from.  By the time the press had arrived i was so well read on the subject that in a matter of days i had mastered the process enough to produce shirts that were of store quality according to all of the friends and family that had see my designs.

It was not long after that that I opened an Ebay store to start selling my t-shirts.  I had sold a few things from around the house on there so I was quite familiar with the selling process.  It also helped that I think about the business side of everything i’m involved in.  I like to see the numbers and how they translate into profits.  I listed several tees for sale in the Ebay store as well as listings for custom designs where the buyer sent me their design and I would basically act as a print shop.

I jumped in head first know that i could not fail and within a week my first order came for about $125 for 25 custom shirts.  I was well on my way and I was trying to quickly recoup the money that I had invested in order to turn a profit.  After about a couple of months and sales of over 200 pieces and a few reinvestments into supplies I had finally gotten out of the red and into the black.  I was running a business you could say.

That whole process lead to me starting to work on a branded t-shirt clothing line because I had started to tire of acting like a print shop and the tedious processes of doing one design and only printing one t-shirt at a time.  The t-shirt clothing company is still in the works.  The process of trying to start a t-shirt line and the research of all that is involved gave me the idea of starting this blog to share the processes and resources that I have found.

I will make make many posts and add links to all of the places and resources that I find.  There will be many goodies added to this site as i have already amassed a great deal of information already in the short amount of time that I have been involved with silk screening.
